Moving House

See also 'Releasing wealth in your home' in the section on 'Managing Money'.

Moving your home is unlikely to be a retirement occupation which you will wish to repeat often but you may be thinking of 'downsizing' now that the kids have flown the nest.

To the alarm of newspspers which traditionally have gained much revenue from property advertising, the internet has opened up a whole new medium for selling houses.   It is widely used by house agents, but has also made it much easier for those who would like to sell direct.  But if you are thinking of direct selling, remember that the number of buyers accessing some of the direct selling sites may only be a fraction of the potential market.

It is a fast developing field, but worth looking at a few of the websites:

www.rightmove.co.uk, which encourges you to use an estate agent and  claims the largest number of buyers visiting their site.

www.private-house-sales.info   is a search engine which compares  websites which offer to 'direct sell'  your house.

www.ononemap.com   aims to show on a map most of the houses for sale in your neighbourhood , amd does not charge for including a house on its maps.

www.ourproperty.com  gives lots of information on the neighbourhood you are moving to

www.globrix.com is a property search engine which tracks the websites of 'every estate agent in UK' and compiles a 'nearly perfect' list of what is available to buy and to rent.
