Magistrate

Being a Magistrate can be an immensely interesting and rewarding role. You will get a deeper understanding of your local community, gain a working knowledge of the law and develop you own personal communication and decision making skills, whilst playing an important role in the country’s judicial system.

But remember that Magistrates retire from the Bench at the age of 70 and you will not normally be appointed unless you are going to be able to serve for at least 5 years.

There is a very good website  at  www.dca.gov.uk/which will answer most of your questions on what it means to become a Magistrate and how to go about applying for  selection.
